About the McKay Company

The McKay group of companies originates from Australia. In 1999 McKay Associates Pty Ltd (MAPL) was established as a consultant to the recently established Government Radio Network, an inter-agency two-way radio communication network to allow interoperability between emergency agencies from law enforcement to emergency services to utilities to general infrastructure operations.

With collective experience in the radio industry of over 50 years MAPL commenced training of two-way radio users implementing at the same time an extensive "train the trainer"program to cover 10,000 users of the system. MAPL was then awarded the consultancy contract for the 2000 Sydney Olympics where training was provided for more than 15,000 volunteers.

It was at this time the principals of MAPL recognized the lack of quality, cost-effective two-way radio earpieces and headsets in the market. They then went about the process of introducing a basic range of accessories that filled this void. The popularity of the products quickly spread to the extent where in Australia McKay is one of the leading suppliers of earpieces and headsets to Police and Law Enforcement, private security firms, venue management firms, motor sport and the rail industry

While at the start the range consisted of basic receive-only kits and standard-type earpieces, the product line has evolved to include earpieces and headsets for most models of professional portable two-way radios. Included are remote speaker/microphones, surveillance kits, tactical/military comms and specialty products, such as bone conduction and ear microphones.

In 2003 McKay Communications Inc was established in Rocky Hill, Connecticut. A sales office, warehouse and test facility has been set up in a 19,000 sq ft facility 15 minutes south of Hartford. Since its establishment McKay Communications has been selected to provide earpieces and headsets to the US Military/Special Forces, Tactical/SWAT Teams, First Responders, Hazmat, Secret Service, private security firms as well municipal departments and for venue management.

As well, in 2004 McKay Products USA was born to provide not only real time technical research and development, and to establish a line of products with a US-based sourcing origin. This has allowed the firm to react quickly to customer demands and requirements by using the resources of the existing technical and manufacturing facilities in the US Northeast.
